I'm right, you know …

Obama: Peace Prize Winner

No, really. President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Not bad considering he’s only nine eight months into the job.

He was awarded it for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples.” Ah yes, I remember.

Clearly a far more deserving choice than front-runner Morgan Tsvangirai – I mean, what has he ever done for ending strife and conflict in a politically unstable part of the world?

Oops … I think I broke the irony meter there.

    Obama deserves it.
Given how hostile the World has been over the past decade, the lack of communication, the ignorance of America, to now have a President offer a completely new way, opening up new lines of communication and making diplomacy rather than fear, a key part of his foreign policy – he deserves it.
Of course Tories and Republicans wont like it, but that’s hardly to be expected. They’d have awarded it to Thatcher and Reagan if they could. 🙂

Except that the Thatcher-Reagan approach was key, along with Gorbachev’s efforts, in ending the Cold War.

Maybe Obama’s foreign policy will work … but unless the Nobel committee have been polishing their crystal balls, how does anyone know? Right now, he might be no more effective than Neville Chamberlain for all we know (though clearly we hope not!)
